LOOP INFO

• Each Lap will start/end at Maui Sunriders Kapalua.

• The loop will be roughly 8 to 11 miles with roughly 1,500 ft of climbing. Most of this elevation will come in the first 3-4 miles of the loop.

• Official course will be announced 1-2 weeks prior based on current road/trail conditions.

GRAVEL UP

• The First ~3 miles will be a gravel climb averaging roughly 10% with some sections peaking at 14%.

• The last .5 miles of the climb is single track with some sections over 15%. This may be a bit of “hike-a-bike” for some.

• Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with an incredible view of the Mahana Ridge all the way down to the ocean.

SINGLE TRACK DOWN

• Once you reach the top, you will enjoy a fun, flowy single-track back to the start. You’ll go through many different surroundings, including 5’ tall grasses, tree-covered groves, and lines of “Cook Pines”.

• There will be a few short sections of climbing on the single-track, but most will be downhill.

• Don’t forget to stop at the duck pond!! They’re super friendly and guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

    Make Your Own Challenge

A loop course allows each rider to make the challenge they desire.

Do you want to have a challenging 10 mile course and take your time? Stop and take a ton of photos? Hang out at the Duck Pond and feed the ducks for an hour? DO IT!!

Do you want to try to finish the most laps and have one of the hardest 7 hours of racing of the year? DO IT!!

    Family Friendly

Our loop course allows couples with families to take turns riding throughout the day. One parent does a lap, then the other parent does a lap.

Easier To Take Care Of The Land!

We want to leave the land we use in better shape than we found it. Having a loop course allows our team to clean up trash and repair trails that need work after the event.

We want to take care of the island! Give more than we take!

WHAT BIKE SHOULD I BRING???

This course is rideable on every type of bike. We tested the course on a road bike all the way to an electric mountain bike. While it is technically doable on a road bike, we recommend a bike with bigger and knobby tires.

• The best all-around bike would be a gravel bike with large gravel tires.
• If you are less comfortable on single track, we recommend even using a hard-tail mountain bike.

• If you are also participating in Pedal Imua (Road Gran Fondo) the following weekend, Maui Sunriders will be able to swap your tires during the week to fit on skinnier/fast tires on your gravel bike.
